The DVD Association has announced the winners of the 2007 DVDA Excellence Awards presented Thursday 21 in the Chaplin Theater at Raleigh Studios, Hollywood. This is the industry’s oldest DVD awards and the only programme that is merit-based and judged by peers. This year for the first time awards were presented to HD DVD and Blu-ray Discs as well as DVDs.
DVDA 2007 Excellence Awards were presented to both Content Owners and Developers. Content Owners Awards were presented to: 20th Century Fox Home Video, Buena Vista Worldwide Home Entertainment, HBO Home Video, Imagination International Corporation, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Warner Home Video.
Developer Awards were presented to: 1K Studios, Ascent Media, Cathy Jackman (an independent DVD Author), DVD International, Fogolabs, GLS Studios GmbH, Imagion AG, Screenlife LLC, Shakey Pictures/Total Media Group and Zoo Interactive Entertainment.
In recognition of the new features presented on the next-generation high definition optical discs, the HD DVD Trailblazer Award was presented to Universal Studios Home Entertainment and the Blu-ray Disc Trailblazer Award was presented to Buena Vista Worldwide Home Entertainment.
The Facility/Individual Excellence Award that recognizes the body of work created by a Facility was presented to Fogolabs.
“This year the judges were presented with an incredible array of very high quality discs in all formats. The 2007 Excellence Winners have really raised the bar on creating excellence in optical disc”, says Bernie Mitchell, President of DVDA.
