Austria-based CD/DVD manufacturer kdg mediatech is now certified to use products from German copy protection developer X-Protect for its pressing plant and creative division MEDIASCOPE. The move enables kdg to offer copy protection products such as CD-Protect, DVD-Protect and DVD-Movie-Protect.
A number of independent German video suppliers are already using the system with success. The supervisory board of IVD, the video and media retail lobby, just recently described the system as being as "effective as it was reliable," and expressly recommended that in future, its members should only purchase products offering an equivalent level of protection.
‘Trust is all well and good. But if anyone is truly serious about protecting their products from piracy and illegal file sharing, you simply can’t get around the need to implement a proven form of copy protection," said kdg director Michael Hosp. "Our company has been constantly involved in enforcing copy protection systems since the end of the 1990s and ever since then has always worked with its own copy protection product."
