Bandai releases first anime title on HD DVD/DVD disc
Bandai Visual USA is to release the first high-definition anime titles in North America – Freedom Volume 1 – in the HD DVD format.
Priced at $39.99, the anime title will be released in the HD DVD/DVD twin format with a HD DVD layer and a DVD layer on a single side in a disc in Japan and the US. Freedom includes HDi network function that allows viewers to watch online extra features.
The DVD has already sold more than 100,000 in Japan, and won top honors at the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2007 for its high-quality animation combining 2D and 3D graphics. The complete series to be released in six volumes.
