Sonopress will be presenting its entire range of DualDisc services at the Midem 2006 trade show this week in Cannes.
The Gütersloh-based media service provider acquired a license for the replication of DualDiscs from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in the middle of last year.
One side of a DualDisc contains a music album with a total playing time of approximately 60 minutes, and the other side contains a DVD that can hold a wide variety of contents including: long versions of the music album on the CD side, 5.1 surround sound, music videos, interviews with the artist or group, backstage and documentary film material, photo galleries, song lyrics, song files for playing on a PC or web links to click.
"We are currently producing Michael Jackson's 20 most popular singles, including video clips, as DualDiscs," said Sven Deutschmann, Sonopress CEO Western Europe. A new DualDisc will be released each week, starting with Thriller. Other songs will include Billy Jean, Bad and Dirty Diana. Sonopress is convinced that this format will be a success.
In addition to DualDisc, Sonopress will also be presenting a full range of production services for CD and DVD audios, music DVDs, SACDs, vinyls and MCs. The Digital Archive and Encoding Service from the company makes it possible to market digital music contents in more than just the conventional mode of high-quality, offline media replication.
