ViewSonic unveils 3D glasses-free portable devices

Amongst several products ViewSonic just launched is the 3DV5 Pocket 3D Camcorder. With its two 5-megapixel fixed focus lenses, the palm-size portable device can capture 3D still images as well as 3D 720p HD video. Live 3D content can be viewed on a 2.4" 3D LCD panel without the need for 3D glasses.

ArcSoft Wizard embedded with the 3DV5 camcorder allows viewing of 3D videos and images on a standard PC or notebook with the included red/cyan glasses. Uploading and sharing of videos on YouTube 3D is done in one click.

Additionally, consumers can also watch 3D content on NVIDIA 3D monitors with NVIDIA's 3D Vision Kit and on 3D HDTVs with their specific glasses.

ViewSonic’s other 3D product just released as well is the 8-inch 3DPF8 3D Multimedia Digital Photo Frame which also doesn’t require 3D eyewear. The frame automatically converts standard 2D photos and videos to 3D.

"In order for 3D technologies to live up to their true potential, there must be an available offering of content, including self-created content,” said Adam Hanin, vice president of marketing for ViewSonic Americas.

Both the pocket camcorder and the photo frame have a $179.99 pricetag.
