Maxell has unveiled a range of 'leather-coated' recordable DVD media. The discs come in two versions: 16x DVD-R and 2x DVD-RW.
The release of such 'luxurious leather-style label' product is reportedly based on the fact that many consumers don't have the time or the equipment to print their own labels. The new Maxell media makes those blank DVDs more attractive.
Both types will come in packs of 10 discs priced at ¥1,180 (€8) for the DVD-R and ¥1,980 (€13) for the DVD-RW variety.
The synthetic-based leather discs will be available in Japan from 25 October. No European release date has been given.
