Scandinavia video retailers add online film2home service

Scandinavia’s largest film rental facility for stores, Videotoppen, is merging with the online film service provider film2home.se, enabling those retailers to offer their customers films streamed online.

This autumn 800 stores in Sweden will be refurbished with the new film2home system. In addition to DVDs, Blu-ray discs and ancillary services, these bricks-and-mortar outlets will be able to offer a range of over 3,000 titles through the online film service film2home.se.

“Streaming movies via film2home.se will improve customer access to films when and where they choose. Now our high street retailers are offering this opportunity as well,” says Josefine Envall, manager for film2home at Bonver Entertainment.

“Our hope is that an increased availability will lead to a higher film consumption, thus benefiting both customers and retailers,” add Bonver Entertainments founder, Gerre Versteegh.

On the website, in addition to the rental and retail opportunities, there is information about new releases and the latest charts as well as trailers and information on how other people have rated the films.

The rental price of a movie at film2home.se ranges between Kr19 and Kr39 (€2.10 - €4.40). To purchase price of a title ranges between Kr59 and Kr139 (€6.60 - 15.60).

Film2home is the only service provider in Scandinavia to offer film rental or retail in both stores and on the internet. The services offers movies through mobile phones, smart TV and IPTV.
