German optical disc replication machine maker Singulus reported sales of $210m for the financial year 2011, translating into a 33.2% increase over the previous year ($157m).
In the Optical Disc segment sales increased by $20.7m compared to 2010 reaching a total of $136m. The Solar segment achieved sales of $68.7m, double the previous year ($33.4m). In the Semiconductor segment, the company realised sales of $4.1m, down from $7.7m in 2010.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and appreciation (EBITDA) amounted to $24.2m in the financial year 2011 compared to a loss of $21.7m the previous year. At 29.7% the gross margin in 2011 increased considerably over 2010 (25.8%).
Singulus says its goal is to continue to maintain the market leadership in the Optical Disc segment for dual-layer Blu-ray Disc production equipment, and to position itself ever stronger in the silicon and thin-film solar technology as a machine supplier as well as a development partner for new cell concepts.
