Sydney-based Access Digital Entertainment's online DVD sales company EzyDVD is debuting Ultraviolet access in Australia with the soft launch this month of video-on-demand EzyFlix.tv. It enables customers to download or stream films and TV shows on any connected devices via access to a digital 'locker' allowing them to share purchased content with up to five people.
A full-blown launch is reportedly for next month, after CEO Craig White seals film and TV content deals with all the Hollywood studios and leading independents in Los Angeles.
"We'll have a pure on-demand pay-per-view model - no subscription, no set top box, no tie-in, no lock-in - and we'll have a download-to-own model as well. We're covering the best of both worlds there," White was quoted by mUmBRELLA who reports the story. The service is to offer some 2,000 titles from the outset.
Following in the footsteps of its Australian venture, Access Digital Entertainment has announced it will launch this summer a similar download-to-own and streaming site operation in the UK - WOWHD.tv. It will be one of the country's first download-to-own and VOD services featuring UltraViolet.
