The Philippines' Optical Media Board chairman Eduardo Manzanohas convinced some Muslim traders involved in the selling of illegally copied movies on DVD and music on CD to shift to selling other merchandise. And now, they are also the OMB chairman’s key in thwarting attempt to pirate movies shown during the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival.
Manzano organized them into the Task Force MMFF with the objective of “guarding against unauthorized recording and copying of the entries in the Metro Manila Film Festival.
“If not for the help of our Muslim brothers, the local movie industry, especially the producers who joined the film festival, could have lost millions in projected revenues,” Manzano told the press at a briefing.
The announcement was made in connection with Manzano’s group having foiled an attempt by a group to illegally copy movies showing during the festival. The group confiscated masters of six movies following a tip off by members of the TFMMFF.
