How will consumers behave in the future? Which technologies will prevail? A roster of experts are invited to the 8th annual DVD ENTERTAINMENT conference to answer these and other questions about upcoming business trends in the entertainment industry. The event will be held on 13-14 November at the ArabellaSheraton Grand Hotel in Munich, Germany.
The keynote will be delivered by Rudolf Groeger, former long-time CEO and now Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of telco giant O2 Germany. He will speak about "Mobile rules - Everything will be portable". Afterwards at the “Top Executive Supersession” market experts like Dirk Lisowsky, Regional Managing Director GSA & Central Europe for Universal Pictures, will look at the future of the business.
For the first time prolific DVD users will have the chance to talk with programme suppliers about their consumption patterns and their favorite products as well as putting across their opinion about high definition formats and other new technologies. A panel of well-known German media journalists will offer their take on the packaged media business. The editorial director and event moderator is Andreas Stumptner, Editor-in-Chief of market-leading VideoMarkt weekly.
Other topics include "50+plus – What is the DVD industry doing for the ‘silver-hair’ generation?" and the "Entertainment target groups of tomorrow". Research Company GfK will provide the latest charts and figures on market developments in the whole entertainment business.
Next-generation formats will feature prominently in the proceedings with the duel "Frank vs. Frank", that is, Frank Simonis from (Blu-ray) Philips vs Frank Eschholz from (HD DVD) Toshiba. HD pioneer companies like Imagion, Enteractive, Sony DADC, Infodisc, GLS Studios and sofatronic will showcase examples on what HD DVD and Blu-ray discs are capable of offering to the consumers.
Traditionally, DVD ENTERTAINMENT will close with the glamorous DVD Night, where the DVD Champion award will be given to the best DVDs of the last 12 months and to celebrities for their contribution to the DVD industry. This year a high definition award will given as well.
