Nexpak files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection

Nexpak, the manufacturer and supplier of DVD and Blu-ray packaging, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last week. The Duluth, Georgia-based company listed assets between $1 million and $10 million, and debts in the range of $100 million to $500 million, according to court papers filed in Delaware Bankruptcy Court.

The company had previously filed for bankruptcy in 2004. The filing had capped a 15-month effort to reposition Nexpak, restructure the company’s debt without any business interruption and to expand the operations.

Nexpak, maker of SecureCase One and STACKpak storage cases, had recently introduced AudientZone, a pre-loaded microSD-enabled digital audio player for books, at the 2009 ALA Midwinter Meeting at the end of January.
