Universal Pictures (UK) again topped the list of winners at the annual British Video Association Awards, picking up four awards for Marketing Initiatives in Film and Special Interest as well as winning the Best Retail and Rental Distributor and Title 2008 of the Year with "Mamma Mia!," "Atonement" and "American Gangster," respectively.
20th Century Fox Home Entertainment took home two BVA Awards to add to their collection, winning Marketing Initiatives of the Year for Music and Television as did Sony Pictures Home Entertainment with Marketing Initiative wins in Catalogue and Film (up to £10million box office).
Momentum Pictures won the Creative Initiative of the Year for their innovative "CSI – Finger Print" set whilst Optimum Releasing with their authoring house Eyeframe, came away from the night of celebration with an award for the Best British Authored Title.
Asda and Blockbuster won the retail and rental categories, whilst Firebelly was named Agency of the Year.
HiT Entertainment was victorious in the Children’s category, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment were triumphant in Non-Theatrical category and Warner Home Video were rewarded for the huge success of "The Dark Knight" which was firmly voted by the public as Best Blu-ray title of the Year at www.blurayrevolution.co.uk – the UK’s official Blu-ray website.
For their relentless campaign against piracy, FACT were rewarded with a BVA Award for Industry Initiative of the Year for their 2008 Strengthened Enforcement Programme.
