French optical disc replicator QOL – and one of Europe’s BD pioneers – has been named an official Blu-ray test centre, endorsed by Blu-ray Partners France and leading consumer electronics manufacturers.
Four of the largest Blu-ray player manufacturers – Sony, Philips. Panasonic and Samsung – who backed the appointment, have supplied QOL with a range of their latest Blu-ray players to enable the French BD replicator to make sure that the latest Blu-ray titles and disc features are fully compatible prior to commercial release.
The role of a test centre is, on the one hand, to identify potential authoring or mastering problems in titles prior to their replication and on the other to alert harware makers of potential player-related issues that require fixing.
To date, QOL has already produced 100 Blu-ray titles totaling one million discs.
