sofatronic's BD software technology migrates to interactive TV

Authoring solution provider sofatronic is expanding its Kaleidoscope software for use with interactive TV. The technology is based on the company’s Blu-ray software, which is already being used by leading C&A facilities around the world.

This means that Kaleidoscope iTV will support the
tru2way/Open Cable Application (OCAP) format, offering a convenient platform similar to that with which Blu-ray authors are already familiar. A beta-release of Kaleidoscope iTV version 1.0 will be available for selected customers on April 1, 2010.

The new software allows for the development and operation of interactive TV services via cable, over-the-air, satellite or IPTV.

"The expansion of the platform from the Blu-ray format to interactive TV is a logical step in sofatronic's development, and we are very satisfied with the first results," says Rouven Malecki, Founder and CTO of the Hamburg-based company. "The new software diminishes the once-large starting barrier for the iTV industry, thus offering developers the possibility - without any programming knowledge - to develop exciting iTV applications and services."
