The German authoring-to-replication Infodisc Holding extended its global network by establishing a Hong Kong subsidiary, Infodisc Asia Ltd, with the goal of strengthening the Blu-ray format in Asia and serve the local Blu-ray clients proactively.
The Asian subsidiary is headed by Jacky Chen (pictured) who has been involved in the optical disc industry since 1995. He started his career at Infodisc Taiwan, where he first worked as engineer and later occupied the position of Marketing and Production Director. Previously, Chen was Marketing Director at Info Source Multi Media.
Besides promoting Blu-ray, Infodisc Asia focuses on the recently-launched product Copy-to-Go which already generates significant interest in Asia. “Watching movies or episodes of TV series on the go is very popular in Japan and Taiwan. With our easy and convenient solution Copy-to-Go we have identified this trend and experience a huge demand,“ says Infodisc’s Managing Director Michael Gutowski.
“Asia, especially Hong Kong, China and Japan, represents a tremendous potential for both the format Blu-ray and Copy-to-Go product,” Gutowski continues. “So far, there are few local suppliers, so that Infodisc, with its long experience with the BD format, can build a strong position in this market.”
The expansion to Asia is Infodisc Holding’s further step into building a global customer service. Indeed, the company says it will be announcing the next move in March. In addition to its replication, packaging and distribution facilities, the groups’ authoring studio Infomedia GmbH Multi Media Services opened in April 2008.
